Makers Night: Indigo and Shibori

The Craft Alliance partners with Laumeier to present a natural dyeing fibers workshop taught by artist and educator, Cathy McBride.  In this workshop, you will learn a Japanese technique called Shibori,  a process of embellishing textiles.  Learn how to manipulate and create pattern by using indigo dyes on beautiful, muslin fabric.  Create an amazing table runner, a set of cloth napkins, a wall hanging, or a wearable shawl!  Class includes muslin fabric and natural dyes.

Cathy J. McBride

Painter, photographer and textiles artist graduated from Missouri State University where she earned her BS in art education and began her studies in fiber arts. Continuing her studies in the field while teaching classes and camps at Craft Alliance, she has had the opportunity to work along side Shibori Master and Fiber Art Historian, Yoshiko Wada, on a textiles journey throughout Japan.
