DISCOVER LAUMEIER / Art and Artists in Nature
Sunday, August 27 / 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. / Free
Discover Laumeier invites all ages to explore Laumeier’s 105 acres, uncover the inspiring effects of artmaking, and soak in the calming and restorative benefits of the natural landscape.
This year at Discover Laumeier:
Meet Pittsburgh-based Visiting Artists In Residence Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis and view their new outdoor installation.
Bring your kite or make one with the Gateway Kite Club and learn tips and tricks for successful kite flying in any weather. Other wind-driven art activities inspired by our Visiting Artists In Residence’s sculptural installation will include making flags and wind chimes.
Join St. Louis-based, Kranzberg Exhibition Artist Vaughn Davis, Jr. in a large-scale collaborative painting project. Be sure to also stop in the Aronson Fine Arts Center to see his solo exhibition, The Fabric of Our Time.
Connect with nature as a citizen scientist through Laumeier’s Biodiversity Project coordinated by Resident Community Artist Emily Hemeyer. Participate in our Bioblitz and see how many iNaturalist observations you can make! A naturalist will be on site ready to assist you with the iNaturalist app or answer any questions about the project.
Team up with Resident Community Artist Lindsay Pichaske to help create a collaborative clay rabbit sculpture.
