Art Adventurers / Ages 5-10 / Full Day

Experience art and nature through exploration of Laumeier's green space, woodland trails, outdoor sculptures, and creek. This full-day art camp is designed for ages 5-10, with an emphasis on play, exploration, and friendship. Young artists learn about contemporary and historical artists, interact with special guests, immerse themselves in the woodland creek and trails, and experiment with a variety of materials and processes to create amazing works of art!

Each session is inspired by a unique theme and young artists are divided into different teams by age. Five- and six-year-olds may register for either half-day Little Buds or full-day Art Adventurers. Ten-year-olds may register for Art Adventurers or Art Squad.

Art Adventurers meets Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Camps are based outdoors in Laumeier’s Moss Education Labs, with some time spent inside the Aronson Fine Arts Center. Cost: $300/ one-week session.

NOW OFFERING BEFORE + AFTER CARE! 

Before and after care offers flexibility for families with varied schedules. Our experienced before and after care staff provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for all artists who participate. Artists enrolled in full-day programs (Art Adventurers and Art Squad) are eligible to participate in both before and after care. Artists enrolled in half-day morning programs (Little Buds) are eligible to participate in before care. Space is limited. 

Before and after care fees are one-time fees that cover the entire week of care. You may choose to enroll for before and/or after care. Your artist may attend one or all days of before and/or after care, however, the weekly fee cannot be prorated. In the case of early release due to a heat advisory, your artist may stay the full day if they are enrolled for after care. Your artist must be registered for before and/or after care before their session begins. Requests for withdrawal from before and/or after care must be made within three weeks of the start date of your artist’s session for a refund to be provided. 

Before Care:
Time: 8-9 a.m. 
Location: Moss Education Shelters 
Fee: $100/week per artist* 

Artists have the choice to free play and draw, explore our little library, or relax before their big day. Optional: Pack a breakfast/snack. Caregivers, please park in the West Entrance parking lot and walk your artists to the Moss Education Shelters for check-in. See the Family Handbook for more details. 

After Care: 
Time: 3-5:30 p.m. 
Location: Aronson Fine Arts Center 
Fee: $200/week per artist*

Artists have the opportunity to take a break in the air conditioning, play indoor and outdoor group games, engage in loose parts play, free draw, explore our little library, and occasionally watch short films. Please pack a snack.

Optional: Bring toys, electronics, books, etc. from home. 

Caregivers, please park in the North Entrance parking lot and walk into the Aronson Fine Arts Center to check out your artists. 

Caregivers are responsible for checking out artists from after care before 5:30 p.m. All caregivers checking out must be listed on the “Authorized Check-Out” list on the registration form. If you need to add an authorized check-out person, please email ftorres-guerrero@laumeier.org.

June 10 / Curious Critters
Hop, crawl, slither, and swim into the wild world of animals as we explore their unique behaviors and homes. Extinct, unusual, our very own pets - no creatures are off limits as we create animal-inspired artwork. Animal lovers: unite!

June 17 / Our Art, Our Future
Gear up to explore how artists have the exciting power to change minds and even change lives. We’ll use all of our senses to investigate the stories, music, and images that have shaped our world, then make our own art to change our futures. Note: We’ll be learning about and celebrating Juneteenth this session with special guests and art projects. 

June 24 / Once Upon An Ancient Time
Step into an imaginary time machine to visit ancient civilizations and investigate their inventions, architecture, and artwork. What will we discover about the people and places we visit? What will we create when we travel back to the future?

July 1 / Art Expedition
Is your passport ready?! We’re climbing aboard boats, planes, and trains for a world tour! We’ll be searching for interesting artwork, fun traditions, and exciting makers who live on every continent, creating globally inspired artwork along the way. *Note: No programming Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 due to the holiday. July 8 / STEAM Dream Lab  
Gear up for an exciting time of exploration and innovation. We’ll put on our thinking caps to use science, technology, engineering, art, and math to dream up new structures, concoctions, and inventions. If you can imagine it, you can create it!

July 15 / Dive into Art
Splish! Splash! Let’s jump into a refreshing pool of water-based sites and sounds, explore how water shapes our world, and be amazed at the science of water. We’ll cool down and create artwork inspired by rivers, oceans, lakes, and aquatic plants and animals. Don’t forget to bring your towel! 

July 22 / We Are the Champions
The ball’s in our court - it’s time to win with projects inspired by sports, movement, and teamwork! We’ll bounce back and forth between playing games and making amazing artwork as a team. Get ready for Olympic-level creating as we become the champions of the Park!

July 29 / Tell Tale Art 
Have you ever had a story inside you just begging to be told? This is your chance to craft entrancing tales using images, words, songs, and movement! We’ll celebrate how storytellers captivate audiences and how we can discover and create stories all around us.

We proudly provide a safe and welcoming environment for all young artists. Our team includes staff with backgrounds in special education, art therapy, English language development, and more. When registering, please give details about your young artist's needs and we'll work with you to meet them.

EXCESSIVE HEAT ADVISORY
In the case of an Excessive Heat Advisory, all summer programs will release early at 1:30pm for the safety of our young artists and staff. Families will be contacted regarding weather-related closures and early releases by Laumeier's Summer Buzz Newsletter, delivered via email.

EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Scholarships for Art Camps and Teen Art Programs are available through the Laumeier Sculpture Park Education Scholarship Fund. Assistance is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be guaranteed for all applicants. The application process is part of the online registration form. You do not need to supply any additional documents or information. THE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD IS CLOSED. For more information, please email our education team at education@laumeier.org.
